Sully made 9 months old on the 14th. This really is The Longest Shortest Time (if you haven’t listened to the podcast, do it!). Each day is a challenge. BUT somehow, he’s gone from a tiny newborn that couldn’t do anything but eat and poop, to a curious, active, happy baby that is fascinated by the world around him—in the blink of an eye.
This was a great month for us. Sully began to crawl and became so much more mobile over the past few weeks. He’s also so much happier now that he can get around and explore. It has really improved the quality of my day to day life has a stay-at-home mom too. I’m no longer stuck on the couch nursing him constantly or glued to his side while he plays. I can set him down and fold some laundry while he happily explores and crawls around. A lot of people seem to think of crawling as a new challenge for parents, but crawling was such a blessing to me! He’s happier, and I am able to be so much more productive.
We’ve also begun to establish a sleep schedule. This is something I seriously failed at for the first six months, and I will do a much better job with my next baby. Sully now naps twice a day, which allows me about 2-3 hours a day to get some work done. Within the past week, we started putting him down for bed at 7 instead of 8-9pm. Now I have an extra hour to cook dinner in peace, which I am loving.
Sully has always been a super smiley baby. He will make friends with anyone that so much as glances at him at the grocery store. I love bringing him out, because people are always telling me he made their day, or they can’t believe how happy he is. I’m so grateful he has this quality and I hope it never goes away.
9 months is such a great age. He really is FUN now. He’s an adorable, loving, sweet little guy who loves life. And I love watching him explore and introducing him to new things. Our days together, though long, are so special to me. I love this longest shortest time.
