This past weekend was my second Mother’s Day as a mom. I had a fun, busy weekend. Saturday was pretty typical weekend stuff, taking care of errands, getting a hair cut, going to the grocery. Pete gave me my Mother’s Day present one day early, and I LOVE it. It’s a new diaper bag/carryall from Storq. You can wear it like a backpack, and it fits quite a bit of storage/pockets into a relatively small looking carryall (we use cloth diapers, which are very bulky to carry around). I got a lot of use out of it just over the weekend and I’m so happy with it. Definitely my favorite diaper bag solution I’ve tried thus far.
We spent Mother’s Day going to brunch and visiting with my mom, which was a lot of fun. Sully got to play with his cousins which is always a blast for him. We got back in town with enough time to do a few things around the house and relax. Once Sully was in bed, I was pretty exhausted. I’ve developed seasonal allergies for the first time ever this year, and man they are rough! Constant stuffy nose, watery eyes, and a sore throat every night. Anyway, I needed something quick and easy for dinner. Luckily, I had a recipe for Thai Hummus Pizza I was planning to make, and it was so simple. The hummus is made from scratch, but then it’s just a matter of assembling hummus, coleslaw mix, and green onions on naan bread, with a drizzle of Sriracha sauce on top. I whipped together a side salad with some leftover avocado, cherry tomatoes, and arugula. So easy, and pretty too:
This dinner, outside on the deck, was the perfect end to a fun but exhausting weekend. I’m so thankful to be a mother and for this day to celebrate my own mom, grandmother, mother-in-law, sisters and all the other mothers who have influenced me and taught me how to do this job well. Happy Mother’s Day, everyone!
